Biographical Note
Algot G. Stenberg was born in Blekinge, Sweden in 1873. He moved to the United States when he was about 19 years old. Stenberg was a selectman for the town of Newington from 1920 to 1922 and also the founder of that town's volunteer fire department.
Stenberg was widely known as a genealogist and had compiled the family histories of such Connecticut families as James Lee Loomis, Austin D. Barney and John F. Rolfe. Many of his genealogical research books were donated to the Connecticut State Library. After a short illness, he died on Saturday June 17, 1950 at the age of 77.
